Summary: This is Tom's story. Born in the near-future and growing up on the desolate streets of one of the last inner city neighborhoods, he's a local kingpin before he reaches adolescence. Facing a bleak future, he looks for a way out – and finds it when he's adopted by a wealthy, well-known family. But what happens when a boy who's never known innocence gets a second chance at childhood?

  1. Hey it's lizzydizzy from ao3 and omg book 2 is just as amazing as the first one. There's some kind of disconnect tho because it's in 3rd pov so it didn't really feel as personal or immersive, but the plot is so so engaging. I guess that's what it has that book 1 doesn't have better. I'm looking forward to book 3 now!

  2. Hey I'm glad you found this! (Especially since i haven't started posting it at AO3 yet.) Thanks for your comments, so glad you liked it. The 3rd person pov was because so much is from Paul's pov - book 3 goes back to Tom's.

    There are a couple of other Paul/Tom stories in the 'Side stories' index if you're interested ('4 Days' is set between books 1 and 2, and 'The First Time' will eventually be part of book 3). And the Jack series is set right after book 2 (though the focus is not on Paul or Tom).
